There´s a True Story in Mexicali. The capital city of Baja California, it is the northernmost city of Latin America with about 903,000 residents. There a few people producing great events and making this city a new hot spot for artists to drop off their vibe & music, and True Story is a promising crew, proving themselves with their epic debut featuring Francis Harris. They are dedicated to booking the highest ranking talent for a comfortable 300 person dance floor at a location that brings the artist on an intimate level with the crowd, ensuring a great time for everyone involved. Continuing in their pursuit, their second event presents Anthony Collins, Co-Owner of Scissor & Thread and curator of Natural History.
Our friends at True Story got a chance to ask Anthony Collins a few questions before he heads down south on March 22nd:
AC: I am great thank you , been super busy actually as i just moved full time from Paris to New York, been doing back & forth´s since the past 2 years and finally made the big move, and its been great choice for sure.
AC: Spending a lot of time in the studio working on my various projects (Anthony Collins – Frank & Tony – Glory Club ), and on the label Scissor & Thread as we got plenty of exiting projects in the pipeline for 2014.
AC: Starting Scissor & Thread and seeing it grow.
AC: Quite a chaotic journey with plenty of ups & lows , I have been in the industry since 12 years now and it takes time to know what your place is in that and what you want for yourself , following your vision is not always easy and takes patience , but on the long term it’s the most rewarding and that is what I am aiming for.
AC: Very, it is my only outlet for my music now and ables me to express my artistic vision 100 %.
AC: A lot factors come in to place , but first and most importantly is the music itself and the feeling I get when I listen to it, its hard to put it in words , it just feels natural when it’s the good track.
AC: I really don´t think too much about it , as I feel in no way related to that music, is like if you were asking me what do I think about “country music” scene , it has nothing to do with me.
AC: I am very excited to discover this new part of the world, even more that I heard great things about these events from my label partner Francis Harris.
