Glasgow’s Calvin Logue delivers a blistering techno debut on FFRR with his new single “Ready”.

The influence of Scotland’s deep-rooted history in club culture is clear to see in every aspect of Calvin Logue’s approach to electronic music; from his eclectic live sets to, most poignantly, “Ready” – his latest original production that is undeniably inspired by the very scene that he has long been immersed in.

Already gaining support from fellow-Scot Hannah Laing, “Ready” is a throwback to the 90s sounds that influence Calvin’s records with strong ravey synths, trance vocals and a healthy injection of driving energy. Speaking about the track’s production, Calvin said:

“I wanted to up the tempo in my studio and try something punchier and faster. I found this cool vocal and built the track around it. I added a heavy kickdrum and a psy bassline for the energy and also added the big rave synth line with some added vocal chops to keep the track moving.  I uploaded a short preview onto my Instagram story which led to the ‘Joyhauser’ lads premiering the track at Awakenings, and Hannah Laing supporting it continuously in her sets ever since.”

With previous releases on Sink or Swim, Spinnin’ Deep, Good Company and Stress Records, as well as an official remix for Faithless, Calvin Logue has been laying strong foundations, quickly becoming a regular choice in the sets of tastemakers like Adam Beyer, Kolsch and Dense & Pika. After Pete Tong named Logue as a ‘Future Star’ with an Essential New Tune selection, his debut on FFRR is the inevitable next step, demonstrating unequivocally that Calvin is “Ready” to take his career to the next level.
