Hi HOON, great to have the chance to speak with you today. For those who don’t know, how would you best describe the music you make?

Firstly, to the Music is 4 lovers team, Thank you for getting me on and it is a pleasure to share some background on myself.

I would have to say originally my sound from last year was based around piano house and trying to have that energy to still play in a club but as 2023 rolled around I decided to start trying to create more club based tracks to be more club ready as that is when I tend to be DJ’ing so it made more sense to write music that fit in with when I would be playing live.

How has the Sydney music scene shaped that sound?

I think the Sydney scene definitely proved that the UK piano house sort of music was not as appreciated in Sydney as what it is overseas but it also allowed me to dive into making deeper, heavier tech house.

You are set to release your ‘I Just Want’ EP on Unknown Records, can you tell us a bit about what went into creating this slammer of a record?

I would say my Toolroom Academy course I completed early 2022 definitely came into play with the drums on this one forcing me to add a lot of layers. I had also made that decision to start writing music for a peak time club at this point which was the end of 2022 when I wrote this track so it was the first experiment with trying something a little different which allowed me to play around with a lot of different sounds and synths which I enjoyed.

The EP also comes packaged alongside a remix from MoveMINT, are you happy with how this has come out?

MoveMINT is a close friend of mine and when I got the call about the idea of a remix to go along with the track to make it an EP I contacted him straight away as I knew he would add some spice to it.

I think what MoveMINT has done with the track by completely flipping it was awesome and exactly what we were looking for.

Have you had a chance to test them out on the road? How has the response been so far?

I actually tested my original out a couple of times before it had been signed and it definitely had a good sound to it on a larger system which generates the reaction I am after.

How is your studio set up right now? Do you have any specifics pieces of equipment that you simply couldn’t live without?

My studio set up is actually really basic currently as my new house is being built and so once I move in to that in a couple of month’s time I will be able to really set myself up properly. Honestly, The one piece of equipment I could not live without currently is my MIDI keyboard. It is quite cheap yet so useful for multiple sections of a track and my creativity flows so much better with it.

Where do you hope to see yourself this time next year career wise?

The goal is to set myself up this year with a good catalogue of releases under my belt. The second half of 2023 I would like to really try and smash out a few more tracks to start gaining some solid tracEon on my socials which I hope then leads to some decent club gigs as well as hopefully some festivals throughout Australia if I can.

Can we expect to hear more from you on Unknown Records following this release?

I would like to think so. The team at Unknown Records have been very welcoming so far and great to deal with so I am sure you will see us working together again pending me sending them something they vibe again.

What bit of advice would you give to any upcoming artist?

Invest your time and money wisely and dive in! Stop hesitating or making excuses to yourself for why you aren’t able to be where you want to be. It is genuinely all up to you and you only because no one is going to just hand you the keys to a successful music career.

I am on my second full year of producing music and still very much so at the beginning of it all yet I am progressing quite fast and it is all due to how much time and money I invest into courses and mentoring with other artists to grow as an artist myself and learn what I need to know quickly so I can make the music that I want to make to a high standard.

Thankyou
