DIRTYBIRD’s latest release captures the adventurous spirit that has long laid with the label. LA-based Robot Love, caught Claude VonStroke’s attention immediately upon his SoundCloud being discovered, and offers a breath of fresh air for the label’s 2020 rotation in ‘Wallflower.’

‘Wallflower’ is crafted entirely on modular synths, giving the EP a warm, full-bodied-tone. Robot Love takes an jazzy direction, beginning with the steely, but lush instrumentation and glitchy effects of the opening “Luc’s Love.” Then comes “Boxwood,” whose playful riffs interspersed with chord triplets listen like an improvised jam session.

The enigmatic Robot Love has been slowly catching attention through his experimental-minded club cuts, whose stylings align with works from Four Tet, Bonobo, and others. With a debut on DIRTYBIRD, it’s time for Robot Love to take his rightful place in the spotlight.
