Sao Paulo style from William Marques takes house outside of his Brazilian backyard into the upper reaches of global clubbing. Marques has held it down in the company of Claptone, Eddy M and Steve Lawler, beginning to make sizeable gains within the house universe and providing Clarisse with three grooves giving the club a workout while making it look easy.

Marques introduces himself by laying out ‘The Feeling’. The vibe ticks off all of your funky house desires – golden sands, cloudless skies, exotic tongues, choppy keys glistening across the track’s surface like sunrays hitting gentle waves, and a perfect curve of bass that shakes your body down with incessant insistence to seal your dancefloor occupation.

Forget about being wined and dined when it comes to ‘Romance’: on the EP’s centrepiece, Marques will wind and grind you into the dancefloor with a seriously tough acid bassline taking centre stage, causing an overspill of warehouse-sharpened sweat that cuts through layers of chattering percussion. Easily achieving certified banger status, it’s a muscular jacker made for the middle of the night with plenty of flesh on display.

At the end of the day though, all Marques needs is ‘Your Love’. Another sparkling house stepper, whose chemical, near-mechanical components all align at the same time to create a deep dancefloor chain reaction, stays primed for the sunshine – as per the crowds that emerge on the breakdown and simple one-note rhythm that takes hold after – and breezy enough to keep you feeling cool.
