Who’s up for another fistful of funky stuff from the ever generous Clarisse Records? Their second five-track compilation for 2021 brings together boogie merchants the world over, all in tune with the label’s philosophy of creating poolside party pieces and prime dancefloor delights.

‘During Tonight’, announce Lucas Ferreyra and Shuu-T, Clarisse will be offering a filtered bassline roller from South America, with wah-wah funk flowing through its veins like liquid garage gold and a vocal making its demands pretty clear.

Using techno cycles in order to power their ‘Machina’, Vaxx and Gustaff design sleek deep house from a Canada-Spain blueprint. Overseen by the vocals of a smooth operator, moves that are again hard to refuse are made in time with a pendulum-synched rhythm.

Laidback as the waves roll in, the bouncy blaze of Jorge Mattos’ ‘Fire’ is a deep heater out of Sao Paulo keeping its cool, another to use a frisky funk filter throughout and bringing you under its spell with an alluring refrain found at its core.

The tech-lined ‘Bible Killin’ provided by holy rollers Copasetic and Lucas MB is an enigmatic dancefloor operation, a UK-to-Brazil connection bringing forward intriguing vocal passages and whose mechanized vibe flashes forward to the future while positioned under a palm tree.

Once you’ve locked onto GIORG’s ‘Linked’, you’ll find it hard to let go: a funky Stuttgart stepper completes the EP, strutting across the dancefloor where the deft boogie at the bottom end is backed by subtle drops of synths and fragments of percussion in sunshine form. Five tunes that’ll add polish to any house playlist.
