Interview with Emeskay

First off, can you give us a quick little background on you guys, and how Emeskay came to be?

Emeskay was initially me, my brother Scott and one of our close mate Kris. We started emeskay in 2012 as we all had a massive love for house music and had always individually had a passion for music production so it just made sense! Kris stepped back at end of 2018 to concentrate on his family and me and Scott kept things going.

Can you talk a little bit about this release, and the creative process for these two tracks?

These two tracks are a little bit different to our usual style moving more towards the progressive end of the spectrum which we are both really feeling at the minute! The idea behind these tracks was to really draw people in during the melodic synthy breakdowns and then smash back in with a driving beat and bass line! Absolutely love this EP and so glad to get it out to everyone on such a great label!

You guys had a massive year in 2019 with releases, and are setting up again to do the same here in 2020. What have been some of your personal favorites over the last two years?

For us the personal favourite release over the past two years would be “The Get Down EP” on our good friend Electronic Youths Sexy trash records! If you haven’t heard the EP check it out!

Who would you say you draw inspiration from to find the Emeskay sound?

I think at the moment we are loving the sound of artists like Lane8, Yotto and King and Early on the deeper progressive side and on the more house tech house side artists like Quibiko, Camelphat, Max Chapman and Wade. We have a real eclectic love of music so draw inspiration from all genres to be honest.

What have you been doing to keep busy during the quarantine time?

Studio, Studio, Studio – luckily Mark has a purpose built studio at the top of the garden so we have been taking it in turns to go up there as we live in separate locations but it’s been working well and we have some really good material ready for Emeskay and our new house alias Offplan.

Any other cool releases dropping soon this year that we should know about?

Got some big news in the pipeline but can’t really say anything about it at the min! Sorry! Hopefully have another EP out this year with Emeskay on Staybad!
