Interview with Super Flu
How did you first get introduced to underground dance music? What is the most challenging part of becoming a full-time producer and touring artist?
It is hard to come up with a clear answer, especially for us. We never had a goal to be able to live of it, but rather we have always done music just for fun and because we felt like it. Now that we can though, some of the most challenging parts of the job is the constant traveling and always staying fit and happy (laughs).
What has been the most exciting turning point of your career so far?
There has been many small moments, but it was definitely a clear felt movement after we released our single “shine”, suddenly people knew who we were!
Where is your home base? If someone were visiting there for the first time, what clubs and/or parties and/or restaurants would they want to check out?
Our home base is the beautiful Halle (Saale) that is located in the eastern part of Germany. In Halle we have about 40.000 students. We have plenty of opportunities to party, especially the many student parties here are a lot of fun. As we are huge burger fans, we can recommend you a place called Tischmanns! There everything is made with ecological products and they have a delicious homemade lemonade.
What advice would you give to an aspiring producer?
Do the things you really want and most importantly have fun with it.
What’s on the horizon for Super Flu in 2017?
The coming weeks we will of course promote our new album. After that the next big thing is a concert with the Mannheimer Philharmonics where we will drape our Super Flu tracks in a classic garment. After that we will release the remixes of our album!
Do you have any hobbies outside of music?
Of course! We both love to cook, Mathias is one of the most hard-core football fans in Germany and Feliks is a dedicated gymnast.
What are some touristy things you do while playing in a foreign city?
It really depends on the city or region. Mostly we don’t have time for sightseeing though, and we want to get back to our families in Halle as quickly as possible.
