Miami-based artist Fat Nick has finally unveiled his debut pop-punk album – Hello I’m Vulnerable – out now via Rostrum Records. The highly anticipated project finds Nick working with the music he grew up listening to, and in turn, sounding his most authentic. The opening skit winks toward Nick’s career in hip-hop, skimming through a variety of rap radio stations, before landing on a rock-radio ticket giveaway. It contextualizes Nick’s love for ‘00s alternative culture before kicking off the album on a bittersweet pop-punk note via “Virgo Summer.” Here, his smooth lyricism clearly translates across genres: “Shorty said she’ll only date a water sign; it’s a Virgo summer baby, be mine.” And throughout the album, from the anthemic “Alone Again” to the slower, subtler “3AM in Camden” and blisteringly paced “Badly Educated,” Nick shows himself to be at the height of his creative prowess. While his sound has evolved, he’s also brought long-time friends and collaborators into his world, with appearances from the likes of Pouya and Kxllswxtch.
Fat Nick explains, “I feel as an artist you’ve always gotta evolve and try new things. As much as I love rap, I also love pop-punk music. I’ve always wanted to make pop-punk music and I finally had a chance to do it and I was like, ‘let’s do it, why not?’ I’m super happy and excited about this project. I can’t wait to share it with my fans and new fans to come with the change. I feel overall, I was able to express myself in a different way making this music.”
In 2014, Fat Nick, also known as Nicky Gordo or Mr. Young Rich and Handsome, showcased his first body of work to the world with the release of “Tha Heart Attack”. This project featured Pouya and Germ and has gone on to accumulate millions of streams just on Soundcloud alone. Through the course of Nick’s career, he has released 6 whole bodies of works, and dozens of singles, with collaborations featuring the late Lil Peep, Shoreline Mafia’s OhGeesy, blackbear, $uicideboy$, Sir Michael Rocks, Riff Raff, Ramirez, and more. His discography has taken Fat Nick on multiple tours across the United States with the late Lil Peep & Smokepurpp (2016), Pouya (2017), Bexey & DJ Scheme (2018), Shakewell (2019) & more, and his presence has graced the Rolling Loud stage for every one of their festivals since the beginning. He also has taken on the main stage at festivals including Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash in Chicago, Riot Festival in Denver, Day N Vegas Festival, and more.
