Imagine DJing for a solid 24 hours. Imagine as well every second you’re playing is to raise money for a worthwhile charity supporting mental health sufferers in the UK. Well, imagine no more! UKG legend DJ EZ has just completed the mammoth task, live streamed via Defected Records HQ and raised a staggering £87,898 from fan donations which were matched to the penny by the forward-thinking label.

I’m really excited to be partnering up with Defected to support a cause close to all of our hearts at a time when it’s needed the most.” DJ EZ said before the event, “As with my previous 24-hour live sets, I hope this one lifts spirits far and wide and spreads positivity to as many people as possible.

The team behind the Defected Virtual Festival, awarded DJ Mag’s Best of British Award in 2020, have successfully hosted a special 24-hour live stream from UK Garage pioneer DJ EZ this past weekend. Defected records goal to utilise the power of music to unite people continues into 2021, providing much needed uplift in the wake of a third lockdown, the hardest yet on the morale of the nation.

“DJ EZ is widely regarded as one of the best DJ’s around, and raising awareness and money for Mind right now seems more relevant than ever. A worthy DJ for a worthy cause, at a time that so many people need a chink of light through the darkness, DJ EZ will certainly bring that.” – Wez Saunders, Managing Director, Defected Records
