Today, UK producer and Night Slugs co-founder Dance System [also known as L-Vis 1990] returned with a unique remix to Glaswegian artist Wuh Oh’s “Softstyle” that we can’t get enough of. The original track is textbook Wuh Oh: hyper-pop meets left-field electronic style, and more than guaranteed to get you moving. Dance System, however, transforms it into his own feverish warehouse roller by adding his high energy techno spin on it, with basslines to match.
Dance System [also known as L-Vis 1990] has been shaping the underground for over a decade. Under this alias, his releases tend to mix futuristic strains of Chicago house with raw jacking club cuts.
To the remix, Wuh Oh says: ‘As soon as Dance System heard ‘Softstyle’ he told me what he wanted to do with the track and executed it straight away. It was impressive to see him work so instinctively and efficiently. The whiplash inducing switch ups between contrasting sections are so cool! I can’t wait to hear that driving bassline on a huge sound system.’
Wuh Oh’s been signed with Song (RCA) for about a year now, partially in thanks to his distinct song-based approach. Radio heavy-weights like Pete Tong and Annie Mac sing his praises, and a number of remix creds – check out fellow Scot Hudson Mohawke’s remix of “Pretty Boy” or the slapper from Wuh Oh put together for Myd’s “Together We Stand” have kept him in the forefront of up and coming artists to look out for. Personally, I can’t wait to see what Wuh Oh’s got in store for us next.
