Chicago born artist Black Light Smoke leads us into hazy terrain with his third original release on Brooklyn-based label Scissor & Thread. His 5 tracks are impressive, with a minimal instrumental style and alluring elements that give the work a classically clean feel.

Rough Cuts begins simplistically snappy and grounded with “That’s My Yes,” transitioning into a layered groove and  percussive throwback, to conclude with a verbal bonus and a strange “Rainy Day” witch tale along an acidic pulse.

Black Light Smoke keeps it fresh with this one, pushing the boundaries of genre and sound for our listening pleasure-I suggest you give it a whirl.
