BIME Bogota, the worlds leading music industry meet up returns to Bogota once again to host the first 2023 edition. BIME is an essential event for professionals in the music industry via the BIME PRO area, there’s also an opportunity for the general public to discover first-hand the big artists of the future through the free activities taking place in Bogota’s neighbourhood of San Felipe.

 

BIME Bogota will feature three big pillars of activities including BIME PRO that will feature talks, workshops and speed meetings, The Start-Up Village and BIME Campus located at the EAN University. In addition, BIME Live will present a line-up of live concerts across three stages located in the Creative District of San Felipe and running until the late hours of the night at the mythical venue The Ghetto.

Today BIME PRO, the congress for music industry professionals, unveils new names who will participate in the panels, masterclasses and workshops to discuss the present and future of the music industry. A PLATFORM TO BUILD SOLUTIONS TO THE CURRENT AND FUTURE INDUSTRY CHALLENGES

 

The BIME PRO activities exist thanks to the collaboration between companies, public institutions and music industry professionals from over 40 countries around the world. Through these collaborations, BIME symbolises the perfect space to build conversations around key topics like sustainability, diversity and equality, innovation and learning. 

 

Highlights within the framework of the Music Equality Forum, which works towards a more equitable, inclusive, fair and diverse music industry, include the panel introduced by Billboard with the Argentine singer-songwriter with more than 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify, María Becerra (AR) and  Jessie Reyez (CA/CO), the Canadian singer-songwriter of Colombian descent who has done famous collaborations with Sam Smith, Eminem, Calvin Harris, will discuss together with the famous writer, pianist and journaslist Leila Cobo (CO/US) about ‘What is empowerment in music today, the sexualization of women’. Other highlights will include a round table led by Femnoise with the aim to build a network to fight against the gender gap in the music industry and a conversation about ‘From muses to mentors’ by Women In Music with the renowned artist Kany García (PR) winner of six Latin Grammys, Catalina García Barahona, also known as Madame Periné (CO) and the managers Verónica Piana (UY) and Andrea Gonzales (CO).

 

At the intersection point between issues of equality and trends, there will be a panel debate on ‘what Latino means within the global music industry’ as well as the lack of representation of Afro-Latin artists. Sustainability will be a hot topic in different panels focusing on festivals, tours and venues. Another key focus will be the internationalization of the music sector, with the support of the Conexiones i program promoted in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Spain, within the framework of the Next Generation EU programme. At the CAMPUS space, hand in hand with the SGAE Foundation, there will be a complete schedule of training and masterclasses aimed at people who seek to learn more about the music business. Key issues in this industry will also be relevant, such as the importance of associationism, music rights, songwriters, artists and sync in the advertising world. Other forward-looking discussions will include topics like the future of contemporary R&B, the web3, profitability and social justice work at festivals and a workshop on AI in collaboration with FUTURX.

 

In addition, leading figures from the international industry such as AJ Ramos (SV/US) Head of artist partnerships, Latin music and culture at YouTube Music / Google; the renowned producer Camilo Lara (MX); Chris Den Uijl (US) Co-Founder of the Baja Beach and Sueños festivals, recognized as a Billboard Power Player 2022 for his event production skills and talent for forecasting music trends; Lex Borrero (CO/US) Co-Founder and Director of Neon 16; Argentine singer-songwriter María Becerra (AR) and Maykol Sánchez (VE/US) Director of relations with LATAM/USLatin record labels and artists at Spotify; They will star in the panels ‘A conversation with…’ – a series of live interviews where they will share their career experiences. Elsewhere across panels, Tyler Henry and Adrián Martinez from STURDY will discuss the keys to creativity in shows and the new generation of managers in this field amongst many more activities that will take place at the EAN University from Wednesday the 3rd to Friday the 5th of May and that can be followed online via bime.org/en.

BIME LIVE, the evening and nighttime music programme will feature five stages distributed across different spaces in San Felipe.
