Boasting a catalogue of juggernaut releases from the likes of Space 92, Julian Jeweil, Andres Campo, Animal&Me, Anton Tomak, Stiv Hey and label boss POPOF already this year, France’s most prolific techno imprint, FORM Music, now unveils its next huge musical project of 2021, with the announcement of BILBONI’s mammoth Inverse EP.
Welcoming the über-talented Slovenian producer for his long-awaited label debut, the huge three-part package is yet another profound showcase in dark, driving sonics from the boundary-pushing Parisian label, who seem to be going from strength to strength with each passing release in 2021.
Inaugurating the triple-pronged package with the ruthless title track, Inverse, BILBONI (real name Goran Bilbija) makes his intentions from the off, delivering an intense peak-time cut, bolstered by huge kickdrums, growling synths and expertly manipulated rhythms throughout its heavy, six-minute duration.
With no time for respite, the middle order sees BILBONI retain the relentless intensity from the opener into unremitting second track, So Be. Thumping bass and twitchy drum patters are the order of the day as stark, unyielding soundscapes provide the backdrop to another impressive, multi-layered original production from the burgeoning Slovenian artist.
Last, but by no means least, BILBONI pulls out all the stops for the emphatic closer, Look At Me. Arguably the most dynamic and playful offering of the entire package, hypnotic grooves, pulsating sub bass and intermittent samples are amalgamated with craft-like precision, as Goran takes the listener on journey though long, drawn out breakdowns and intense drops to round off a truly remarkable debut on FORM.
