Best Of Do Not Sit On The Furniture Recordings 2019 is a perfect snapshot of what Behrouz’s label got up to last year. And it was a lot – a debut party in Ibiza, plenty of key tunes and parties in other hot locations round the world.

The label has always been a bastion of good taste in its home base of Miami, where most of the scene is dominated by commercial grooves. Boss Behrouz is inspired by Burning man though his music is always dreamy, spiritual and escapist. And so it proves here.

Things get underway with the loose, tumbling grooves of Seth Schwarz – Animals At The Watering Hole, followed by the more propulsive but still rubbery kicks of Modd – Vishaya, before getting zoned out and laid back with Dee Montero – Ventura. There is real majesty in the chords that are layered up in this one, while the toms on the Death on the balcony tune Rhythms of the Universe are to die for.

Elsewhere El Mundo & Zazou get gritty with House of Lights and its rubbery arps, and then Death on the Balcony come through again with Opia, which is laced up with the most gentle and wispy chords, angelic vocals and soft drums.

This is a superb collection of meaningful house tunes that really hit the spot. No doubt 202 will be another big year for this leading deep house label.
