The Altus Project label has been doing big things this year, continuing to set the bar high with their impressive collection of fresh tracks. For their latest release, the crew has put together a stellar 7-track compilation, Altus All Stars, Volume One, showcasing a diverse array of talent, as well as the label-bosses themselves. Altus Project is a fairly new, collaborative effort of the ever-talented Lee M Kelsall, Thee Cool Cats and Sean Roman. Despite the relatively recent launch of the label, they are consistently producing epic tracks that are sure to cause heat on any dance floor. Expect nothing less with this incredible album.
Full of underground flavors, the album kicks off with Flymo & Replay’s deep and funky house remix of Lee M Kelsall’s “Love Rouge”. Sean Roman takes you to darker territory with “Black Porcelain”, dropping some ominous tech house beats interlaced with some visceral synth action. The DC’s “Playin’ The Fool” provides those organic grooves, with playful chord stabs layered over a steady bassline. Krown City’s “Fit to Behave” conjures up some deeper vibes, luring you in with its sinful bass and mysterious atmospherics. Simon Jain goes a bit harder, delivering some seductively absorbing bass, undercut by some hypnotic vocal samples. Devv keeps the party going with some fresh, tripped out spacey sounds in “Keep It Clean”, while NRKY & Numbers closes out the album, with an energetic, whimsical track in “50 Buddhas”.
The entire release is perfectly executed to highlight each artist’s unique style – yet another hot collection to add to your arsenal!
