If the opening party is any indication on how well Jamie Jones’ second season of Paradise at DC10 is going to unfurl this summer, then we are in for one hellava time on Wednesday nights here in Ibiza. Floating all around the venue were people saying, “Man, this is busier than last year’s closing party.”
The arresting opportunity to experience DC10 is a fortunate one. The club itself is stationed next to the Ibiza airport, as it is one of the airport’s old hangers, making it a gem in the middle of nowhere surround by fields and gravel lots. There are three areas: an outside patio area with wooden floorboards, two bars, and a stage in the corner – it’s a resting place for smokers and people that want to pile; the terrace, which is one big hanger with a covered rooftop and surrounded with windows to let the outside light in; and then there is the main room, your typical nightclubesque space with flashing lights, lasers and little nooks to fill in any emptiness. The venue fits about 1,500 people.
For the Paradise party, the place was packed since the first second. Three areas, three stages, but the DJs and live acts were only playing in the main room, which consequentially is the smallest space of the three. Needlesstosay, the main room was rammed! Nut-to-butt, baby! It was overflowing with bumbags, butt cheeks and tank tops!
The sound in DC10 is amazing and is probably the best I’ve heard on the island. I wouldn’t expect anything less to handle a line-up like this: Richy Ahmed, Infinity Ink, Tom Demac live, Four Tet and Jamie Jones. The music and the sound system definitely consumes the partygoer, and the discomfort of being packed in like sardines evaporates away.
Paradise goes down on Wednesday nights at DC10 all summer long. Jamie has a line-up to die for with an array of upcoming guests including: Eats Everything, tINI, Loco Dice, Crazy P, Catz ‘N Dogz, Richie Hawtin, Magda, DJ Koze, Miguel Campbell, Dixon, Cajmere, Art Department and many many more. If you’re on the Island, definitely make stop in Paradise.
